Amidst the pandemic and the record drop in hydrocarbon prices, which negatively affected the investment plans of all oil and gas companies without exception, PrJSC MC Ukrnaftoburinnya has maintained its leading position in the private hydrocarbon production in Ukraine.
For 12 months of 2020, UNB demonstrated the following results:- The production volume of the UNB field amounted to 725.4 million m3 of gas and 80.8 thousand tons of oil and condensate. In total, the Sakhalin field produced 844.3 million m3 of gas and 86 thousand tons of oil and condensate.
Gas, mln m3 | Gas, mln m3 | % | Oil/condensate, thousand tons | Oil/condensate, thousand tons | % | |
2020 | 2019 | 2020 | 2019 | |||
UNB | 725,4 | 734,6 | -1% | 80,8 | 87,1 | -7% |
Sakhalin field | 844,3 | 862,1 | -2% | 86,0 | 92,7 | -7% |
- Thus, UNB's production figures remained almost at the level of 2019, experiencing a slight decline (gas - by 1%, oil/condensate - by 7%) despite the fact that in 2020 the company was forced to abandon drilling new wells (5 new wells were completed in 2019).
- The company has made significant technological upgrades. In particular, a modern propane refrigeration unit was put into operation. The throughput capacity of the PCU process line allows the company to treat gas from the Sakhalin field in the amount of up to 2 million m3 per day.
- The company repaired well No. 35 at the Sakhalin field using the latest supply unit, which helped to avoid a decline in well production and extend the workover period.
- The company fully fulfilled all its statutory financial obligations to the state and partners. In 2020, the total amount of payments to the budget amounted to about UAH 2 billion.
- The amount of rent paid by UNB in 2020 for the use of subsoil for oil, natural gas and gas condensate production amounted to UAH 882 million. In particular, UAH 44 million was paid to local budgets, including:
- UAH 17.6 million to the regional budget of Kharkiv region;
- UAH 17.6 million - to the budget of Krasnokutskiy district;
- UAH 8.8 million - to the budgets of Oleksiyivka, Kachalivka and Kitchenkivske village councils.
- The company has significantly strengthened its geological and technical teams and attracted international professionals. Thus, the Geology Department is headed by Milenko Tsimich, a specialist with more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including in such companies as Svenska Petroleum Exploration, Schlumberger, Gaffney and Cline, ENI, TNK-BP, Rosneft, Ukrgasvydobuvannya, etc.
- Mykhailo Bakunenko, Chairman of the Executive Board of PrJSC MC Ukrnaftoburinnya, was recognized as one of the best CEOs of Ukraine by Forbes Ukraine magazine. The magazine's editorial team selected 25 best Ukrainian CEOs who were able to successfully lead their companies through the challenges of 2020.
The main goal of 2020 was to maintain the high level, practices and professional team that the company has been building over the past five years. We focused on maintaining the production level of existing wells, operational efficiency, ensuring maximum safety of each employee and going through all the challenges that the company faced this year with dignity. Under such conditions, we managed not only to avoid a significant reduction in production performance, but also to carry out important technological upgrades and strengthen the team, all in a truly crisis environment for the industry. I am grateful to everyone at UNB for their maximum dedication this year. Given the current price expectations, in 2021 the company plans to implement a number of projects that have been postponed, including drilling a new well, a number of measures to maintain and improve the operation of existing wells and oil and gas treatment facilities, and search for new promising assets.
